"Proud Detailers of Air Force One"
Media Advisory The Nations first Presidential jet along with five additional historic aircraft have received a makeover, with portions of the preservation work performed by Indian Trail, NC based Detail Magic. Matt Micozzi, owner of Detail Magic Auto Detailing was one of only twelve selected out of thousands of detailing professionals nationwide to take part within this historic project. Since 1996 when Air Force One was granted to the Museum of Flight, some two million visitors have stepped back in history aboard the "Flying Whitehouse" that carried Presidents Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson and Nixon along with many National and World leaders. In 1959, President Eisenhower took the very first Presidential jet flight aboard this aircraft and called it "exhilarating". The exterior work included a full cleaning of all surfaces and removal of oxidized paint, polishing and sealing of all painted surfaces. Matt also performed full exterior details to restore the badly hazed aluminum back to its original reflective mirror finish. Who Was Chosen as Part of This Elite national team? Matt Micozzi of Detail Magic of Indian Trail, NC was chosen to be a team leader within the preservation of these historic aircraft. "Matt's hard driven detailing ability along with his knowledge of aircraft was a major reason I desired Matt to be involved within this historic project" said Renny Doyle, Founder of Attention To Details, the company hired to provide the preservation work. "Matt is one of the most skilled detailers of aircraft and automobiles I have worked with and his commitment to providing top notch work was a chief reason he traveled across the country to take part within this project", Doyle added. Earlier this year the Museum of Flight approached Doyle about conducting preservation services on not just the Air Force One aircraft, but five additional aircraft including the very first 737, 747 and the rare British Airways Concord Jet that was retired from service in 2003. With this many historic aircraft to clean and preserve, Renny turned to associates nationwide for assistance and contacted some of the best detailers within the country to be part of the restoration team. These historic aircraft are on display at The Museum of Flight which is housed at Boeing Field in Seattle, WA. |
